Kelsey Zaavedra

Kelsey is the woman behind Heirloomista in Chisago County, Minnesota. She believes that without connection to place and land, our local food systems could disappear. It is important to make farms accessible to everyone so that even those who do not farm can experience the importance of them. During her process of creating spaces for emerging farmers and those who wish to support them, she discovered the resistance that some rural communities have to changing models of farming. Through this uncomfortable and challenging experience, Kelsey committed to finding ways to make it easier for others wishing to farm and make a living from the land to do so.
