Jim Ostlie

FarmLink Coordinator, Minnesota Department of Agriculture

Jim Ostlie has been a Livestock Development and Planning Specialist with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) since 2007. He grew up on a farm in Southeast Minnesota and currently lives with his wife and two children in western Minnesota near his in-laws farm where they crop farm, raise Red Angus cattle and Suffolk Sheep. He received his Agricultural degree from South Dakota State University and has previously worked for University of Minnesota Extension, USDA Farm Service Agency, Gold’n Plump Poultry and for the county of Kandiyohi as their feedlot officer. Besides being a livestock specialist for the MDA and assisting livestock producers in any aspect of their operation, Jim has had a focus on farm succession over the last decade which lead him to also be the coordinator for Minnesota FarmLink.
