Javier Garcia

Javier Garcia, Agua Gorda LLC, started his farm in Long Prairie, MN in 2011 with others as a Cooperative in a community garden and now grows certified organic mixed vegetables on over 10 acres. Agua Gorda has worked with Latino Economic Development Center since 2012 and in 2016, received a loan from LEDC to buy 54 acres of land in Long Prairie, MN. The farm specializes in watermelon, cantaloupe, specialty peppers, tomatoes, and winter squash and has sold produce wholesale to Shared Ground Farmers' Cooperative, The Good Acre, Minneapolis Public Schools, and La Loma. Javier is a founding member of Shared Ground Farmers Cooperative and a strong leader for other Latino farmers looking to start a farm operation. Javier has worked for 17 years at Twin Eagle Dairy in Long Prairie as the primary Manager of the calf operation caring for over 500 calves daily.
